WIS EVENT Book talk with primatologist and author Keriann McGoogan

From the Field to Page: A Journey through Primatology and Science Writing

Keriann spent years studying howler Monkeys in Belize and lemurs in Madagacar. She is currently a board member for Planet Madagascar which is a charity that aims to conserve Madagascar’s unique biodiversity and help the local community. McGoogan has published two novles, has been featured in well-established journals, and was selected as a Writer’s Trust Rising Star in 2021.

At this event, she will share on her recently published novel titled, “Sisters of the Jungle,” which explores the science of primatology - a field that has been dominated by women. She shares stories of her experiences doing fieldwork and honours the work of those who came before her, such as Jane Goodall, Diane Fossey, Birute Galdika, and Allisoin Jolly. The seminar will provide real-life guidance on how you could follow a similar path towards this type of research/fieldwork.
