International Women's Day Panel Discussion

March 8th was an incredibly special day across the globe—International Women’s Day! This day celebrates and empowers not just women in STEM, but all women worldwide of diverse backgrounds, strengths, passions, and talents. The theme for this International Women’s Day was ‘Balance for Better,’ which highlights the need to foster a gender-balanced world in order to drive progress and build stronger economies and communities. In line with this theme, we hosted a panel discussion on diversity and gender equality in the workplace and in STEM fields.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support and to our panelists: Dr. Laura Cowen, Ali Baggot, Dr. Euan Thomson, and Dr. Christine Fontaine. Our panelists shared their experiences with gender bias in the workplace, shed light on the steps being taken by their departments/companies to amend these gender gaps, and provided insight into the importance of diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and how to promote it. We greatly appreciate their honest, informative, and inspirational words!
