Presented by UVic Women in Science
We're ready for takeoff into the 2017-2018 academic year of UVic Women in Science! Join us on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 for an engaging evening of prizes, games, drinks, and inspring talks. Grow your community of passionate and likeminded scientists, and hear from accomplished women in the BC STEM community.
This event will feature keynote presenters:
Dr. Emma Davy (Teaching Fellow, Quest University)
Dr. Sara Ellison (Physics & Astronomy, UVic)
Robyn Quinn (iWIST Founder, Big Bang Communications)
The night's raffle will be featuring out of this world prizes from Picot Collective, Sea Cider, Boulder's Climbing Gym, Smoke & Mirrors Coffee, The Drake Eatery, Oak Bay Beach Hotel, and more! There will be FREE snacks and we will be proudly serving Phillips beer on tap (ID required for alcoholic berverage purchases).
During this event we will introduce our Executive Team and Committee members who have been working behind the scenes to make UVic WiS a success. We will also be revealing our fall event agenda including networking events, academic opportunities, and workshops!
We will see you there for an incredible evening, because how do you organize an (inter)stellar party? You planet.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No, all ages are welcome at the event. Please be prepared to show ID for alcoholic beverage sales.
How do I become a member of UVic Women in Science?
UVic Women in Science doesn't have membership defined by anything at all. Our group is open to everyone interested in supporting the Women in Science initiative, regardless of race, gender expression, sexuality, or even fields of study (although it is science focused, it's important to bring outside perspectives!).
Will tickets be available at the door?
This depends on the current capacity when you arrive. Our WiS Launch event in early 2017 reached capacity, so RSVP using Eventbrite to avoid disappointment and guarantee your entrance!
